This week's lab we check the difference of the 11 kinds of the tiny rocks under the microscope. Here is our group's record and data collect: (which hand record by Kaye Le 1. The Big Question Addressed in Lab: The lab focused on understanding the layers of the earth based on rock cycle by modeling the formation of different rock types. What Erosion cause the different rocks and what is the influence of that? 2. Lab Activities: We observed these 11 different rock samples with a microscope and recorded and organized the data, as documented on the figure above. 3. Lecture Insights from Thursday: We learned about buoyancy, which also amounted to a lab session where different drinks were used to test whether they floated or sank, introducing the fact that because of the difference in sugar and weight, the cans sank and floated. What did I learn? I learned that different brands of beverages can be buoyant in different ways, as well as that different materials sink and float differentl...

We talk about the score And we do the lab about starburst RECTIONS: Work together and be prepared to share ideas with the class. Google starburst rock cycle and explore rock cycle with Starbursts. 1. Create two different sedimentary rocks 1. Change colors 2. Change pressure                                                         2. Create two different igneous rocks      1. Change amount of melting (perhaps methods – candle, boiling water, etc..)      2. Change rate of cooling (in the air, cold water - maybe with ice). 3. Create two different metamorphic rocks    1. Change the amount of heat – CAUTION: DO NOT MELT – that is igneous    2. Change the amount of pressure                                     ...
